• How does the technology work?
  MoviTraps uses a specialized attractant to lure female mosquitoes to lay their eggs inside the delivery device. • What is the difference between MoviTraps and EcoBioTraps?

  EcoBioTraps is designed for outdoor usage. EcoBioTraps are made from paper mache with a sachet glued to the base, are 100% biodegradable, cover 400 sq. ft., and the entire unit is to be replaced every 30 days.
• How do I maintain my MoviTraps?
  Maintenance is "just set it and forget it." Every 30 days, simply:

  Drop in a fresh sachet
  Refill with water and place it back in its spot

  Born out of SMILE, BMC's Civic Tech Incubator in Mumbai, our mission is to provide a sustainable, chemical-free shield against vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and Zika.
• What happens if my pet accidentally drinks the water from the trap?
  Because MoviTraps are 100% toxin-free and pesticide-free, the water is non-poisonous. While we recommend keeping the trap in a place where pets will not disturb it, there is no risk of chemical poisoning if a pet or child comes into contact with the water or the sachet.
• Can I use MoviTraps alongside my AC or ceiling fan?
  Absolutely. However, for the best results, avoid placing the trap directly in the path of high-speed air. Strong drafts can disperse the natural "lure" too quickly. Placing the unit in a corner where air circulates gently is the "sweet spot" for maximum effectiveness.
• What kind of water should I use to fill the trap?
  Standard tap water works perfectly. You do not need distilled or filtered water. Simply fill the MoviTrap to the indicated level, drop in the sachet, and the science takes care of the rest.
• How do I dispose of the water after 30 days?
  When it's time to replenish your MoviTrap, simply pour the old water into a drain or onto dry soil. Since the sachet has already neutralized the larvae's ability to become adults, the discarded water is harmless to the environment.
• Why do I need to replace the sachet every 30 days?
  The attractant and the larval-control ingredients are designed for a 30-day peak performance window. After a month, the attractant that mimics a perfect breeding ground begins to fade. Regular monthly replenishment ensures your "protection" never has a gap.
  
• How soon will I see a reduction in mosquitoes?
  Since MoviTraps and EcoBioTraps target the mosquito lifecycle rather than just the flying adults, it isn't an "instant kill" like a chemical spray. You will typically notice a significant drop in the mosquito population within 10 to 14 days as the current generation of larvae fails to hatch and the adult population naturally dies off without being replaced.
  
• What exactly will I see inside the trap?
  One of the most satisfying parts of using MoviTraps and EcoBioTraps is the visible proof. After a week or two, you see tiny "rafts" of eggs or small larvae, also called wrigglers, in the water. This is proof it's working, ensuring these larvae never develop into biting, disease-carrying adults.
  
• Does MoviTraps work against all types of mosquitoes?
  Yes. Our attractant is specifically formulated to lure Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, the primary carriers of dengue and Zika, as well as Anopheles stephensi, associated with malaria, and Culex mosquitoes. If it breeds in or near water, our trap will target it.
